Abstract

At BNR, a Software Development Environment (SDE) based on the XMS distributed architecture has been in use for 5 years.

This paper describes the XMS SDE. It shows how the SDE is built as a configuration of the XMS architecture and details some of the unique features of the system. These include the Helix file system and the support for third party software. The paper also presents some of the experience in developing software using a distributed SDE.
