Abstract
Musculoskeletal disorders are one of the most common problems in the working adult population, leading to loss of productivity and absence, with an obvious impact on the economic status of a community.
Despite what has been done in the last decades, we recommend a change from cost-based to value-based diagnostic algorithms with patient/pathology-tailored protocols which could ultimately provide major economical and medical benefits.
In this chapter we review the values and limitations of the imaging techniques available for the management of musculoskeletal disorders, by presenting some practical cases in which the appropriate and cost-effective approaches are discussed.
