About this series

The handbook series includes the latest and up-to-date overviews on topics that are of key significance to contemporary sociological and related social science research. Several of the volumes discuss important topics from an interdisciplinary social science perspective, covering sociology, anthropology, psychology, and psychiatry.  This prestigious series includes works by some of the top scholars in their fields. These seminal works seek to record where the field has been, to identify its current location, and to plot its course for the future.

John D. DeLamater initiated this series with the encouragement of Howard Kaplan in the early 2000s, and since then, under his aegis and constant effort, it has published some stellar volumes by the top academics in their specializations. DeLamater continued to be the series editor on this prestigious series until his death in December 2017.
