About the authors

Sucharita Gopal, Ph.D. is a professor in the Department of Earth & Environment at Boston University and a research affiliate at five centers at Boston University. She holds a visiting professor appointment at the Vienna University of Economics and Business in Austria. Her multi-disciplinary research primarily delves into the intricate world of geospatial data analysis and modeling, GIS, data mining, information visualization, and artificial neural networks. Her work often combines data science and statistical analysis with practical applications in urban planning, systems modeling, public health, and sustainable finance, resulting in holistic solutions to some of society’s most challenging problems. She is a co-founder of Floodlight Invest, a fintech solution provider.

Josh Pitts, MS,  is a technologist, who has founded several businesses and consulted for governmental agencies and technology companies. He is a co-founder and the chief technology officer of Floodlight Invest, a global fintech analytics solution provider that serves customers with ESG and sustainability data analytics and guidance. He has provided AI-based consulting and solutions to businesses in healthcare, technology, and media.
