About this book

Redefining Financial Services explores the fundamental redefinition of the role of financial intermediaries in the new century. Combining empirical knowledge with a historical approach, the author reveals that seven centuries of advances in technology have changed the nature of financial services very little. Examining the state of financial services today in the context of the new economy's evolution, Joe DiVanna investigates what changes are happening in the financial industry, where they are occurring, how they are materializing and, more importantly, why.

Reviews

'This man is a real live business guru...his book...will be read by Mr DiVanna's considerable global following in the business world...and will undoubtedly be a bestseller in the right circles.' - Cambridge Paper

'Out-of-the-box thinking on the future of the financial services industry done within the context of an historical perspective, an educated view of the implications of current and future technological innovation and the insights of some of today's thought leaders.' - Adrian I. Merryman, Chief Investment Officer, Interregnum

'Joe DiVanna's book illuminates the fundamental opportunities for the Financial Services Industry to reinvent itself. Joe illuminates the historic foundations of this industry while identifying the transformational processes and technologies available to take advantage of these opportunities for industry reinvention. Now all that is needed is the will of Financial Services companies to do so!' - David Sutherland, Managing Director, The Business Innovation Consortium

'Mr. DiVanna cuts the Gordian knot of bits, bots and banks. The historical, geographical and business perspectives are informative as well as entertaining. A wealth of models provides a ready means to gauge the future of finance.' - Jay Rogers, Senior Vice President, Darwin Partners Management Consulting

'Joe DiVanna's book broke new ground for me. His insightful comparisons and historical analogies bring an abstruse subject to life and made me think about the real issues around not just financial services, but the service industries in general. It is too easy to imagine that the situation we confront today is entirely the product of modern technology and economics. This book will help both the financial services specialist and the general reader to think outside the box. It is hard to imagine a book on this subject that is likely to hold the attention of both those constituencies, but this one does.' - David Thomas, Chief Executive, Careers Research and Advisory Centre

'Went through the book Redefining Financial Services and I think it's just great. Hope it makes up to be the book of the year.' - Ralph Richards, external consultant to UBS and to Credit Suisse First Boston

'It is very thought provoking and very well crafted. I think the book will be very well received by bankers looking to differentiate themselves from their competitors.' - Daragh O'Byrne, Senior Technical Consultant, Kindle Banking Systems
