Educating young people about sex and sexuality remains one of the most controversial and political areas of the school curriculum. Drawing on young people's own understandings of their sexual selves, knowledge and practices Sexual Subjects considers the implications for how we conceptualize the effectiveness of sexuality education. About the author

LOUISA ALLEN is a lecturer in the Faculty of Education at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. Her current work involves designing a sexuality education resource for senior school students and her research interests include, sexuality education, sexualities, masculinities, feminist theories of education and the body. She has also published The Life of Brian: Masculinity, Sexuality and Health in New Zealand (with Heather Worth and Anna Paris).
