About the editors

Dr. Deepak Bajaj is presently a Professor, Director and Head of Institution at the RICS School of Built Environment, Amity University, Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India. He has been an Adjunct Professor at RICS School of Built Environment since 2016 and regularly mentors and supervises Ph.D. scholars and master’s degree students. An industry veteran, Dr. Bajaj has rich and varied industry experience in diverse professional capacities in national and international organizations in real estate and construction sectors. He is Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors for the past 12 years and chairs the Assessment Panel in India and UK at RICS. Before joining RICS School of Built Environment, he has worked in project management, construction, real estate and facility management sectors of the industry. Dr. Bajaj has pursued his Bachelor of Engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology, India, Master of Construction Management from University of New South Wales, Australia, and holds a Ph.D. from the University of Technology Sydney, Australia. He is passionate about knowledge sharing and has spent the last 35 years working in industry and higher education in the Built Environment sector. He has a diverse technical, business and research background, with a wider experience in consulting, training and academia. He had been an adjunct professor at SKEMA Business School, France, and Chongqing Jianzhu College, Chongqing, China. Dr. Bajaj has been honoured with ‘Australian Institute of Building National Excellence Award’ in 1999 (Construction Management) and ‘Facility Management Association Australia National Excellence Award’ for Knowledge Achievement in 2003 (Risk Management). He is author of numerous research publications, guest editor and referee to numerous journals.


Dr. Thayaparan Gajendran is Associate Professor at the College of Engineering, Science and Environment, School of Architecture and Built Environment, University of Newcastle, Australia. Dr. Gajendran’s research focuses on the governance of organizations, using cultural analysis lenses, in construction and disaster management. His research is committed to developing evidence-based practices and policies for building resilience at the complex intersections between communities and organizations. He engages in extensive international research collaborations and has published over 150 academic articles. He has held numerous service positions, including Assistant Dean of Education, Program Convener, Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment Ethics Committee Chair, and Acting Head of School. Before joining the University of Newcastle, he worked in the industry as Project Quantity Surveyor and Manager of Projects.


Dr. Sanjay Patil is presently Director and Head of Institution at the RICS School of Built Environment, Amity University, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Dr. Govind Patil is a result-oriented professional with 23 years of rich and extensive experience in academics, research and consultancy, strategic planning, curriculum development, academic administration, quality assurance and enhancement with added industry experience in project planning and management, cost planning and budgeting, cost control, resource deployment, and site administration. He is Doctorate in Civil Engineering from NIT, Surathkal, India. His research interest involves construction engineering and management, sustainability, coastal engineering, and artificial intelligence. He published several papers in these areas in reputed international journals and conferences. He has successfully mentored, completed and currently working on funded projects in the area of industrial waste management, sustainability, construction project management of worth INR 20.5 million. He is a reviewer for intentional journals published by Elsevier, Taylor, and Francis & ACI. He is recognized as Outstanding Reviewer by Elsevier. He juried for the most coveted awards for the architecture and building industry such as Construction Week India Awards and ‘Construction World Architect & Builder Awards.’
