About the editors

Dr. I. A. Palani is working as an Associate Professor in Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Indore (IIT-Indore). He completed his Ph.D from IIT- Madras during the year 2010 from Mechanical Engineering Department (Precision Engineering and Instrumentation Laboratory, PEIL). His research interest is mainly focused on Mechatronics System Design, Smart Materials and Structures, Shape Memory Alloys, Soft Robotics, Laser Assisted Micromachining, Surface Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering.

He has got many awards and recognition for his research work. He has also received many funded projects as Principal Investigator from various funding agencies like SERB, DRDO, DST: RSF, DST and AMT Technology Development Board, IMRAT-Hyderabad, DST-DAAD, DST-JSPS, DST-EPSRC, DST-FIST and many more for various titles such as, Design and Fabrication of Intelligent Mirrors for optomechatronics applications, Design of SMA based soft actuators for soft Robotics, Development of thick and thin NiTi shape memory alloys porous structures using Laser and wire arc additive manufacturing, Design and development of Laser Decal transfer based Micro 3D printer for printing micro devices, Design and Development of NiTi shape memory alloys Bi-morph drive for waste thermal heat energy recovering system, Development of SMA based composite structure, Investigations on Structural and Thermo mechanical behaviour of the Cu-based shape memory alloy bimorphs prepared by Laser assisted manufacturing, Promotion of Environmental Friendly Plasma Nitriding and Nitro Carburising and Newton Bhabha higher education partnership program Building capacity in celebrative research on advance manufacturing in collaboration with Cambridge University, Wabco, AVTECH. He has successfully completed many industrial consultancy projects for GE, WABCO India LTD, John Deere India Ltd etc..

He is the life member in many professional bodies such as Life member Indian Laser Association, Life Member ISSS, Annual Member SPIE (Society of Photo Optical Instrumentation Engineering) and Annual Member of SAE. Currently, he is also an editorial board member for many International Journals and reviewer for Material Science and Engineering, Journal of Materials Letters, Journal of Optics and Precision Engineering, International Journal of Advanced manufacturing Technology, Journal of Materials and Design Etc... He has filed many patents and published more than 110 International Journal Publications with Total Impact Factor of 180.

Dr. P. Sathya is working as a Professor in Department of Production Engineering, NIT Trichy. He completed his Ph.D from NIT, Trichy during the year 2006 from Production Engineering Department (Welding). His research interest is mainly focused on Welding technology, Solid State Joining, Materials behavior subjected to welding, Similar and dissimilar materials welding, Failure analysis of weldments, Weldingparameter optimization. He has got many awards and recognition for his research work.  Young Technology Award conferred by Indian Welding Society, Mumbai Chapter, Best Teacher Award Conferred by National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, Best Cited paper Award  for Journal of Optics and Laser Technology (ELSEVIER), for the paper titled  "Optimization of laser butt welding parameters with multiple performance characteristics", Best Paper award in National conference on corrosion, surface Engineering & Tribology, held at NITT, for the paper entitled on Corrosion study on flux cored arc welding of AISI 316 (L) austenitic stainless steel, Certificate of Reviewer Contribution, awarded on December 2015, International Journal of Precision Engineering and Manufacturing (Springer), Best Paper Presentation award in International Welding Symposium IWS 2K18 held at Trichy during the year 2018, Faculty Award 2017 for outstanding contribution to the growth of Institute through publications (Web of Science) etc..

He has also received many funded projects from DST, CSIR, DRDL, MHRD-SCSP-TSP, SERB-DST for various titles such as, A comparative study on the weldability of high strength aluminium-magnesium alloy, Experimental studies and numerical simulation on  micro joining of shape memory alloys and many more.. He has undergone TEQIP Sponsored one month training Programme in “Bodycote Singapore Pte. Ltd, Singapore.  He is the life member in professional bodies like Indian society for technical Education, Life Member Indian welding Society, and Indian Society for Production Engineers. Currently, he is also an editorial board member for many International Journals and reviewer for International Journal of Advanced manufacturing Technology, Journal of Materials Processing technology and Materials Letters

Dr. D. Palanisamy is working as an Associate Professor and Head in Department of Mechanical Engineering, at Adhi College of Engineering and Technology, Kancheepuram. He completed his Ph.D from National Institute of Technology, Trichy, NITT, during the year 2017 from Production Engineering Department (Manufacturing). He received his BE in Mechanical Engineering from Madras University and M.E. in Manufacturing Engineering from Anna University. His research interests are mainly focused on Metal Cutting, Modeling and Optimisation of Manufacturing Processes, Cryo assisted machining, Rapid manufacturing, metal matrix composites, laser based manufacturing,   modelling and optimization of manufacturing processes etc.. He has published many research articles in the fields of machining, composites, laser assisted manufacturing and cryogenic assisted machining, optimization, unconventional machining, corrosion behaviour etc.

He was the Convener and Guest Editor in Materials Today Proceedings for the International Conference on Advanced Materials and Modern Manufacturing (ICAMMM’20). In addition he is the reviewer for international journals like Archives of Civil and Mechanical Engineering, Measurement, Materials and Manufacturing Process, International Journal of Machining and Machinability of the materials, Journal of Scientific and Industrial Research, Materials Today Proceedings and International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology. He received a Patent titled Adjustable Drill Jig for industrial applications in the year 2021.
