About this book

This book features more than 95 papers that were presented at the bi-annual Regional Conference on Science, Technology and Social Sciences, RCSTSS 2014, which was organized by Universiti Teknologi MARA Pahang. It covers topics ranging from communications studies, politics, psychology, education, religious studies as well as business and economics.


The papers, which have been carefully reviewed, include research conducted by academicians locally, regionally and globally. They detail invaluable insights on the important roles played by the various disciplines in science, technology and social sciences.

About the editors

Mohd Amli Abdullah obtained his M.Sc in Information Management from Universiti Teknologi MARA in 2007. He has thirteen years experience in teaching from diploma level to master level in various higher education institutions. His main interest in research is in the area of innovation, technology management, leadership and business studies. He has published three papers which are indexed in Scopus. He has served as Assistant Coordinator in UPENA (University Publication Centre) UiTM Pahang and initiated the online publication of Gading Business and Management Journal. Currently, he is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Business Management in Universiti Teknologi MARA Pahang.


Wan Kalthom Yahya is a senior lecturer in Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Pahang. In 2011, she received her PhD in Marketing from the Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. Her research interests include corporate social responsibility, environmental behavior and marketing. Since 2011, she has published five papers that are indexed in Scopus. She has also presented twenty papers in various conferences and proceedings. She served as a reviewer in International Journal of Business and Society, Asian Academy of Management and Gading Business & Management Journal. In 2010 and 2012 she received research grants from Ministry of Education Malaysia. She is currently the Head of Faculty of Business Management since 2011.


Nazirah Ramli is now attached to the Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences, UiTM Pahang and has twenty years experience in teaching. Her primary research interest is in the area of fuzzy decision making, fuzzy forecasting and mathematics education. She has published twelfth papers, which are indexed in ISI/Scopus and currently is supervising two MSc students. She has received a grant from the Ministry of Education Malaysia to carry out research works related to her field of studies. She has served as a Chief Editor of Gading Business and Management Journal and currently, she is the Head of Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences.


Siti Rosiah Mohamed obtained her M.Sc in Management Mathematics from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), in 2008. In 2006, she completed her degree in Computational Mathematics from University College of Science and Technology Malaysia (KUSTEM). Currently, she is a lecturer in Universiti Teknologi MARA, Pahang, Malaysia. She has worked in UiTM since 2008 and has been appointed as the Type Setting Editor for the university’s publication centre. She has published research papers related to her field of studies both locally and internationally.


Badli Esham Ahmad is a senior lecturer at the Academy of Language Studies, UiTM Pahang and has over fifteen years of teaching experience. He has taught various subjects from diploma to degree level including Business English, Sociolinguistics, and Introduction to General Linguistics. He is actively involved in research activities and his research interests are self-directed learning and adult learners. Currently he is the Coordinator for ICAN (Industry, Community and Alumni Network) for UiTM Pahang.
