About this book

Andreas Schäfer liefert einen neuen, kontextualisierten Zugang zur Analyse der Bedingungen, Praktiken und Wirkungen von Deliberation im parlamentarischen Entscheidungsprozess und fördert Dimensionen demokratischer Praxis zutage, die in vorherrschenden Forschungsansätzen bisher vernachlässigt werden. In einer Fallstudie zum Deutschen Bundestag zeigt er unter anderem, dass Deliberation konsensbildende, aber auch kontestative Funktionen erfüllt und insbesondere auch spezifische indirekte und langfristige Effekte hervorbringt. Die Untersuchung eröffnet neue theoretische Perspektiven zur Betrachtung der Rolle von Deliberation sowohl im Parlament als auch innerhalb eines demokratischen Systems im Ganzen.
