About this book
Robotic surgery is in a phase of worldwide rapid evolution. Data from many centers indicate that urologists are achieving equivalent, or better, operative outcomes using a robotic laparoscopic interface compared with their open results. Patients benefit from quicker convalescence, less pain, and shorter hospital stays. The multi-authored international text covers the robotic operative procedures in urology that are routinely performed today and still in evolution. It focuses on robotic radical prostatectomy and includes robotic procedures for the kidney, adrenal gland, and urinary bladder. The most essential steps are depicted in illustrations. This book should contribute to the support of new robotic teams and continue to popularize robotic urology.

Reviews
From the reviews:
"Editors John and Wiklund … prepared Robotic Urology with the interested urologist in mind and begin with an informative overview of the past, present, and future of robotic surgery. … recommended as excellent introductory texts for readers interested in the rapidly expanding field of robotic surgery in urology. … Robotic Urology … will appeal especially to those surgeons with a specific interest in pursuing robotic intervention for prostate cancer." (Philip H. Kim and Chester J. Koh, Journal of the American Medical Association, February, 2009)
"Recent advances in urology aimed to reduce the invasiveness of surgical procedures for the patient. Laparoscopy was an important first step followed by robotics, which represents an obvious progress in this approach. … Most chapters are richly illustrated with figures and colour photographs. … We can recommend it to all urologists who are looking for a basic and compact overview on robotic urology. Experienced surgeons will also find valuable information in this book that may help improve their practice." (Paul Meria, European Urology Today, April/May, 2009)
