About the editors

Prof. Dr. Kazumi Nakamatsu received the Ms.Eng. and Dr.Sci. from Shizuoka University and Kyushu University, Japan, respectively. He used to be a full professor at School of Human Science and Environment, University of Hyogo, Japan. His research interests encompass various kinds of logic and their applications to computer science, especially paraconsistent annotated logic programs and their applications. He has developed some paraconsistent annotated logic programs called Annotated Logic Program with Strong Negation (ALPSN), Vector ALPSN (VALPSN), Extended VALPSN (EVALPSN), and before-after EVALPSN (bf-EVALPSN) recently and applied them to various intelligent systems such as a safety verification-based railway interlocking control system and process order control. He is an author of over 150 papers and 20 book chapters and 30 edited books published by prominent publishers.

Prof. Dr. Yen-Wei Chen received the B.E. degree in 1985 from Kobe Univ., Kobe, Japan, the M.E. degree in 1987, and the D.E. degree in 1990, both from Osaka Univ., Osaka, Japan. He was a research fellow with the Institute for Laser Technology, Osaka, from 1991 to 1994. From October 1994 to March 2004, he was an associate professor and a professor with the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Univ. of the Ryukyus, Okinawa, Japan. He is currently a professor with the College of Information Science and Engineering, the director with the Research Center of Advanced ICT for Medicine and Healthcare, Ritsumeikan University, Japan. He is also an adjunct professor with the College of Computer Science, Zhejiang University, China. He was a visiting professor with the Oxford University, Oxford, UK, in 2003 and a visiting professor with Pennsylvania State University, USA, in 2010.

Prof. Dr. Ari Aharari received M.E. and Ph.D. in Industrial Science and Technology Engineering and Robotics from Niigata University and Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan, in 2004 and 2007, respectively. In 2004, he joined GMD-JAPAN as a research assistant. He was a research scientist and coordinator at FAIS-Robotics Development Support Office from 2004 to 2007. He was a postdoctoral research fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) at Waseda University, Japan, from 2007 to 2008. He served as a senior researcher of Fukuoka IST involved in the Japan Cluster Project from 2008 to 2010. In 2010, he became an assistant professor at the Faculty of Informatics of Nagasaki Institute of Applied Science. Since 2012, he has been with Sojo University, Japan, where he is currently a full professor in the Department of Computer and Information Science.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Toshifumi Kimura received the Ms.Eng. and Dr.Eng. from Himeji Institute of Technology and University of Hyogo, Japan, respectively. He has been an assistant professor, a lecturer, and is now an associate professor at School of Human Science and Environment, University of Hyogo, Japan. He has been a guest researcher at University of Graz (Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz), Austria, from 2011 to 2012. He has more than 30 research papers. He has various research themes based on an image processing and analysis for human or animal behavior. His research team has developed a simultaneous tracking program of multiple honeybee called K-Track. This program can use a behavioral analysis for not only honeybees but also other animals and has contributed to the analysis of their behavior.
