About this book
This book focuses on advanced optical properties and applications of tellurite glasses and tellurite glasses doped with rare-earth nanoparticles. The initial chapter presents the current state of the art in tellurite glass development, focusing on those compositions doped with nanoparticles based on rare-earth elements such as neodymium and erbium. The book then discusses various linear and nonlinear optical properties (e.g., refractive index, absorption, optical susceptibility) of these glasses in the visible and ultraviolet spectral regions. Finally, it looks at a selection of recent technological applications of doped tellurite glasses, such as highly efficient laser glass, novel temperature sensors, and advanced optical fiber material. Featuring comprehensive and up-to-date data sets, along with a topical discussion of promising new areas of application, this book is particularly suitable for researchers and industry professionals working in the field of glass manufacturing foroptics and laser applications.

About the author
R. El-Mallawany, Emeritus Prof. of Solid State Physics, member of the national committee of advanced materials and a fellow of the International Association of Advanced Materials (FIAAM/FL-528/06-23). He taught physics to undergraduates & postgraduates for more than 4 decades. His motivation was to innovate and synthesize new glass materials. Also, he achieved outstanding experimental and theoretical contributions in the field of Condensed Matter Physics "New Glassy Materials" for potential applications. He supervised and examined globally tens of Ph.D. & M.Sc. thesis. He published a series of scientific articles, book chapters, and books with thousands of citations (Scopus I.D.: 7003506640). He has been invited as a world-renowned expert in such field by the European Office of Aerospace Research & Development (EOARD) to present several seminars in his area of expertise, and by the International Materials Institute (IMI), USA to present five videos educational lectures to help researchers all over the world. He represented Africa in the International Year of Glass (IYOG). The impact of these findings was on HR, the economy, and the environment. He was awarded national, and international awards and recognitions.
