Introduction

Various metallic or non-metallic surfaces are frequently treated by electrochemical methods (e.g. electrodeposition, electroless deposition, anodization, passivation, etc.) in order to achieve a desirable property important for biomedical applications. Applications include orthopedic or dental implants, dressings for wound healing and different skin diseases, and surfaces for the prevention of bio-film formation or corrosion inhibition in biological media.

The aim of this volume of Modern Aspects of Electrochemistry is to review developments in surface treatments for biomedical applications in relation to electrochemical science and technology. Scientists, engineers, people moving in the field, and advanced students will find these review articles valuable for future applications.
