Abstract
We have analyzed the characteristics of a free-electron laser (FEL) oscillator with optical holecoupling. The effects of the hole-coupling on the amplitude, the acceptable misalignment error, the normalized FEL amplitude with offset misalignment, and the tilt tolerance of the misalignment were studied using a 3D FEL code that we developed. The variation in the radiation amplitude with the mirror tilting of the hole-coupling mirror and the variation in the radiation amplitudes on the spot sizes with the pass number were also calculated using a 3D code. The mode construction was simulated and studied for higher-order modes with and without errors.
