Abstract
It was suggested that the relationship between anxiety and volunteering might best be studied using an anxiety scale which is not clinically oriented, such as the Activity Preference Questionnaire (APQ). Anxiety levels of introductory psychology students were assessed using the APQ and the Taylor Manifest Anxiety Scale (TMAS). APQ scores were significantly related to the tendency to volunteer for psychological experiments. High anxious S s participated in more experiments than did moderate or low anxious Ss. TMAS scores were not related to experimen tal participation.
