Abstract
In this study, Mickelson’s (1969) Table of Meaningfulness (m̄) for 9-year-old children was examined to determine whether or not meaningfulness (m̄) is a function of frequency and specificity. The data indicate that for 9-year-old children, meaningfulness appears to be a function of specificity (χ2, 3df 11.47, p<.01). On the other hand, meaningfulness (m̄) does not appear to be a function of frequency (χ2, 3 df, 5.6, p>.05).
