Abstract
To test a hypothesis from sensory-tonic field theory, 18 students looked at a cross 52 ft away and, after being blindfolded, were given the task of attempting to walk directly to the cross while simultaneously receiving stimulation from a vibrator on the left or the right side of the neck or receiving no stimulation. Compensatory movement away from the side of stimulation was found.
