Abstract
Three presentation procedures were compared in a concept learning task with college Ss. In the Contrast condition, one positive and one negative instance were shown on each trial In the Pairs condition, pairs of positive and negative instances were shown. In the Successive condition, a single positive or negative instance was shown on each trial. The Contrast condition was the most efficient by a measure of instances prior to criterion. The Pairs and Successive conditions were equally efficient when one set of relevant dimensions was used. But the Pairs condition was much less efficient when another set of dimensions was made relevant.
