Abstract
Attention is drawn to the relatively small number of materials available for use in experimental studies of figureground fluctuations. The use of ambiguity as a formol spatial treatment by artists is described. Details of seven paintings by Salvador Dali into which this treatment has been introduced are described and illustrated.
