Analysis of the Effect of the Piston Stroke to Diameter Ratio on Operating Processes and Properties of a Reciprocating Compressor

Abstract

The article defines the main directions for improving the operating processes and integral properties of a compressor by changing the piston stroke to diameter ratio based on the first law of thermodynamics for a variable-mass body. It is established that increasing the piston stroke to diameter ratio is associated with increased heat removal from the compressed gas and decreased gas leaks. It is shown that reduced work losses in the suction and discharge processes can be achieved by reducing this ratio, which does not affect friction work in a reciprocating compressor. Recommendations for using the piston stroke to diameter ratio for small, medium-sized, and large compressors are given.
