Improving a System for Heat Treatment of Borehole Sucker Rods

  • Published:
Russian Engineering Research Aims and scope

Abstract

Borehole sucker rods used in oil production operate in challenging conditions. In particular, they are subject to dynamic forces, corrosive media, and various types of deformation. There is an elevated probability that the rod will fracture and the attached equipment will plunge to the bottom of the borehole, with consequent loss of output and the need for maintenance and repair. A promising means of improving rod reliability is to treat the working surface with high-frequency current. The possibility of design improvements in the heat treatment system for borehole sucker rods is considered.
