Estimating the Contact Strength of Machine Parts on the Basis of the Fatigue Strength

  • Published:
Russian Engineering Research Aims and scope

Abstract

An approach to determining the contact strength of machine parts on the basis of the fatigue strength is proposed. The contact strength is assessed in terms of the equivalent stress in the contact zone. The proposed method eliminates the need for laborious experiments to determine the contact strength and permits ongoing assessment of the viability of components under a periodic contact load.
