Application of a Magnetic Field in Metal Melting

Abstract

The application of a magnetic field produced by an inductor when metal is melted by means of an electric arc has certain benefits: it ensures mixing and holds the metal within specified limits. The appropriate configuration of the dc inductors is considered.
