Structural and Functional Analysis in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)

  • Published:
Russian Engineering Research Aims and scope

Abstract

The two most important preliminary stages in failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) are considered: structural and functional analysis. The basic requirements in structural analysis are presented. In examples of structural analysis, visualization as flow charts and as a structure tree is employed. Likewise, the basic requirements in functional analysis are presented. In examples of functional analysis, visualization as a function tree is employed. In an example, a method of functional analysis is employed.
