Assessing an Airport’s Environmental Impact Using the Macrokinetic Dose–Effect Model

  • Published:
Russian Engineering Research Aims and scope

Abstract

The macrokinetic dose–effect model may be used to determine the relation between the soil concentrations of heavy metals around an airport and the state of the local vegetation. The normalized difference vegetation index NDVI is employed here. Calculations indicate that the vegetative cover is greatest when the weighted mean concentration of heavy metals (Cd, Pb, and Zn) is 2.04 mg/kg.
