Static and Dynamic Spindle Characteristics in Lathes with Different Roller Bearing Configurations

Abstract

The behavior of a spindle assembly with different roller bearing configurations and different bearing spacings is considered. The aim is to find the dependence of the bearing spacing on the flexure of the spindle tip. Empirical formulas are derived for the flexure of the spindle tip with different roller bearing configurations. The empirical formulas may be used in calculations of spindle assemblies, with great time savings.
