Abstract
Information is provided regarding the density distribution of seals made of cast-iron composites and the particle motion in cold molds on cold pressing. The influence of the mold’s shaping kinematics on the density distribution over the height of the sleeve-type seal is assessed. The deviation from the mean workpiece density over the height is less in bidirectional pressing than in unidirectional pressing. The relation between the pressure on the workpiece and the compaction mechanism is analyzed for different pressing procedures.
