Refinement of the Voigt Hypothesis for Copper and Brass

Abstract

According to the Voigt hypothesis, the internal frictional coefficient of metals is frequency-independent. Experiments with copper and brass rods show that the internal frictional coefficient declines hyperbolically with increase in the fundamental frequency.
