Abstract
Stacked wire-cut electric discharge machining (EDM) of curved polymer-composite surfaces is considered. After studying various stack configurations, a productive method of machining polymer composite is proposed: the most effective stack consists of three workpieces with alternating conducting layers. This method permits stable machining without wire fracture and produces the specified curved surface contour of a polymer-composite workpiece, at a rate of 0.5 mm/min. That expands the scope for the manufacture of polymer-composite products. Wire-cut electric discharge machining may be used in production conditions to cut stacks of polymer-composite workpieces.
