Abstract
Express assessment of the cost of product development on the basis of prototype costs is considered. The following principles are adopted: decrease in manufacturing cost with increase in production volume; and the use of an empirical cost factor for development. The result is very approximate, but that is acceptable in practice. In addition, by refining the empirical dependence on the basis of practical testing in different systems, a much more accurate method may be obtained.
