Improved Lubrication of Gears in Railroad Switch Drives

  • Published:
Russian Engineering Research Aims and scope

Abstract

The main types of tooth damage in the gears of electric drives for railroad switches are considered, and the performance of various lubricants is compared. In laboratory tests, the frictional coefficients of the lubricants are determined for boundary friction, and the optimal composition for the specific operating conditions of drive gears for railroad switches is proposed.
