Abstract
In the continuous operation of large drums (for example, rotary furnaces for roasting cement clinker), they may rapidly become inoperative on account of shape errors in the supporting elements: tires and rollers. Such errors must be eliminated in the production process. Existing methods of ensuring the precise shape of the contact surface for drum tires by machining in the course of rotation do not permit precise prediction of the result. In the present work, we formulate the basic principles of a new technology taking account of the relation between the conditions and precision in restorative machining of the contact surface for large drum tires and the results of simulating the machining process.
