Abstract
The use of liquid hydrocarbon fuels synthesized from natural gas in aircraft with gas-turbine engines is assessed; an appropriate model is derived. The flight characteristics of the Il-76TD and An-124 aircraft are investigated, taking account of the replacement of standard fuel by synthetic fuel. Their performance with the synthetic fuel matches that with standard fuel. The fuel efficiency is better, and the environmental impact is no worse.
