Abstract
A 3D mathematical model of a hydrogen engine is derived and verified. It is based on the Navier–Stokes transfer equations, in Reynolds form. The influence of the crankshaft speed, the air excess, and ignition timing on engine performance is considered. Modeling results show that the hydrogen engine with an external mixing system and with forced ignition may expediently be operated with a lean fuel mixture.
