Environmental Impact of Polymer Composites

  • Published:
Russian Engineering Research Aims and scope

Abstract

The environmental impact of polymer composites may be assessed by analysis of the life cycle. The environmental-safety index of the most common polymer composites used in construction is calculated. The proposed approach permits assignment of environmental risk to the various stages of the polymer life cycle and comparison of the values not only for different polymers but for different groups of structural materials used in the manufacture of the same components—in particular, metals and polymers.
