Abstract
For surface texture with microprojections bounded by a mixture of concave and convex semicircles in two-dimensional space, analytical formulas are derived for the filling probability of the surface layer, both within cross sections and over the volume as a whole. Comparison of probability estimates obtained by graphical and analytical methods indicates excellent agreement. Comparison of the probability characteristics for microprojections bounded by concave semicircles, convex semicircles, and a mixture shows that they differ significantly on account of their different profiles, in the case of identical geometric characteristics. That confirms the practical utility of the probability characteristics of surface texture.
