Abstract
To minimize the amplitude of the cutting force in the turning of blanks with sinusoidal linear surfaces, the directional cosines of the chip-departure line along the cutter’s front surface are determined. With known directional cosines of the resultant velocity vector, the working kinematic front angle may then be determined. The dependence of this angle on the static cutter parameters is established.
