Assessing the surface roughness of parts after shot hardening

Abstract

A formula for the surface roughness Rz in the shot hardening of machine parts is derived on the basis of energy relations. Its dependence on the physicomechanical properties of the materials and the geometric and kinematic parameters of the shot is established.
