Russian Engineering Research Aims and scope

Abstract

The wheel-rail system is regarded as a thermodynamically open frictional system conforming to the variational principle of minimum action. That provides the basis for engineering calculations of the primary functional parameters (in particular, the wear resistance) of locomotive wheel pairs in various operating conditions.
