  • Published:
Russian Engineering Research Aims and scope

Abstract

Two methods of improving modular tool systems for multifunctional machine tools are outlined. The first is based on morphological analysis and permits the development of a conceptual framework and then a tool system with the set of elements determining its technological and functional capabilities. The second is based on a uniform basic module, to which other modules may be automatically attached for specific tasks, as necessary.
