Unidirectional and opposing deep grinding of titanium alloy with periodic wheel adjustment

  • Published:
Russian Engineering Research Aims and scope

Abstract

The grinding of slots of different length in VT8 titanium-alloy blanks by means of a highly porous silicon-carbide wheel is investigated. The formation of the components of the deep-grinding force is investigated as a function of the direction of table supply and the length of the blank, in all stages of the process. The edge stability of the highly porous wheel is considered. The operation of the wheel with blunting, self-sharpening, or mixed conditions is studied.
