Grinding wheel with grains of different sizes

  • Published:
Russian Engineering Research Aims and scope

Abstract

Improvement of grinding by ensuring uniform abrasive action on the surface of the part over the whole height of the grinding wheel is considered. The use of a flat abrasive wheel with bands of different grain size is proposed; the bands are reinforced by layers of glassfiber or other material. From the frontal strip, the grain size declines over the whole height of the wheel. A method of calculating the mean grain size for each band is outlined.
