Calculating the reliability of shafts with probability and possibility variables in the limiting-state model

Abstract

A new approach is proposed in calculating the reliability of shafts in any mechanical systems. In this approach, the basic parameters in the mathematical model of the limiting state are a combination of random and fuzzy variables, when probabilistic and statistical methods cannot be used for reliability calculation.
