Correlation between friction and the atomic lattice structure of solids

Abstract

Simplified mathematical models are proposed for systems of electric charges at frictional surfaces. These models permit conclusions regarding the relation between the frictional properties and the parameters of the atomic lattice. The results are confirmed by experiment.
