Liquid flow around a solid at small Reynolds numbers

Abstract

As experiments have shown, the ratio of the inertial forces within a laminar stream of particles to the viscous forces in the boundary layer is constant. This finding may be attributed to microscopic expansion of the viscous sublayer.
