Abstract

The paper presents the results of studying changes in the ice-forming properties of natural and anthropogenic aerosols containing aluminosilicates when exposed to vaporous iodine. Iodine vapors that are present in the atmosphere as components of natural and anthropogenic pollution and invariably formed during weather modification by pyrotechnic and other means increase the ice-forming activity of natural aerosols, in particular, those having aluminosilicate structures in their composition. It was found that the sorption capacity for molecular iodine vapor for aluminosilicate sorbents is 234 ± 1.0 mg/g. The coefficient of iodine extraction from gas-aerosol media during the sorption in the dynamic mode is 99.5 ± 0.2%. An increase in the ice-forming aerosol activity in this case is from one to three orders of magnitude.
