Thyristor AC Voltage Regulators to Improve the Quality of Electrical Energy in 0.4-kV Distribution Networks

Abstract

The requirements for thyristor regulators of alternating voltage when providing standardized indicators of electrical-energy quality in electrical networks are considered. A technology for construction of thyristor regulators of alternating voltage is presented based on the use of a voltage-add transformer with a partitioned winding and a thyristor switch. The advantages of using switches based on thyristor switches as part of ac voltage regulators are shown. A technique is proposed for calculating the parameters of a voltage-add transformer to ensure a given step of regulation of extra voltage and a uniform distribution of its levels. The criteria are formulated, and an analysis of various topologies of thyristor switches as part of thyristor regulators of ac voltage is carried out. The requirements for the control algorithms of regulators when changing the operation modes of the network are considered. Simulation models are proposed, and the results of modeling of operation modes of thyristor regulators in the network are presented. The results of test-production operation of regulators at power electrical network installations are presented that confirm the effectiveness of the technical solutions proposed.
