Abstract

The choice of a reasonable structure and composition of the power supply system based on the photovoltaic cells is considered. It is noted that, to provide power supply to complex objects, such as large office and residential buildings and hospitals, it is necessary to apply multicriteria methods to determine a reasonable structure of the system under consideration. A new approach to solving problems of a reasonable alternative choice of the photovoltaic system for power supply by numerous criteria (discrete vector optimization problem) is suggested. The selection criteria of a power supply system are justified, and the weighting factors of criterion importance are determined. Autonomous power supply to a hospital in Iraq is considered as example in choosing equipment and determine possible options for construction. A table of the ratings of various versions of power supply, such as autonomous, hybrid battery–network, and network connected ones, is compiled. The multicriteria optimization method ELECTRA is used to choose the best option. The example of selecting the best version of a power supply system from seven examined ones is considered. It is confirmed that application of the multicriteria approach allows one to obtain a more reasonable result than the one-criterion approach does and can be recommended for choosing the structure and composition of the decentralized power supply systems.
