Power coefficient and power circuits of modern inverter-type welders

Abstract

An integral procedure that permits to calculate the power coefficients of electronic welders (EWs) is presented. The power coefficient K p of the main electronic welders, beginning with the first samples and finishing with modern electronic welders, is analyzed using the proposed procedure. The modern units of electronic welders are equipped with correctors that secure a value of K p′ close to unity. An electronic welder with a corrector ensuring K p = 0.99 and an efficient half-bridge push-pull inverter has been designed.
